Remember those Fruit Roll-Ups and Fruit by the Foot your mom would put in your lunch bag as a kid? Well now they are the center of a multi million dollar lawsuit filed against General Mills. The lawsuit claims that consumers were mislead about the nutritional and health benefits of Fruit Roll-Ups & Fruit by the Foot Fruit in the market campaign. The products were marketed as nutritious, healthful to consume, and better than similar fruit snacks when in all actuality these Fruit Snacks contained trans fat, added sugars, and artificial food dyes; lacked significant amounts of real, natural fruit; and had no dietary fiber according to the lawsuit complaint. The lawsuit is entitled Annie Lam v. General Mills, Inc. and is in the jurisdiction of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
