If you or someone you know were charged a “Payment Protection,” “Identity Theft Protection,” “Wallet Protection,” and “Credit Score Tracker” by Discover without your consent you might be a part of the Minnesota Discover Class Action Lawsuit. The lawsuit is entitled Lori Swanson v. Discover Financial Services, et al and the amount of money any class member is entitled to receive is undetermined at this time. The final amount will be determined based upon how many people file valid claims. The proposed settlement amount is being reported a $2 million dollars. Even if you made a claim in the private class action lawsuit concerning these actions you can still file a claim in the Discover Bank MN Settlement. Please note that class members have until 08-12-2012 to file a claim. The lawsuit was filed on a cold day in December of 2010 and the parties agreed to settlement terms on a windy day in November of 2011. If you do nothing you will not be eligible for any settlement payout.

If you don not have this service go to your local library to obtain the form. The Consent Judgment and the Notice of Settlement documents are also available for your viewing at the administrators web portal. The case was settled by fame Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson. If you feel like you should be a class member in this lawsuit but did not receive a notice please call toll-free (800) 951-3201 to request the forms be mailed to you. Also as part of the settlement terms Attorney General’s will require Discover to provide copies of enrollment recordings so it can be sure that Discover is complying with the settlement.
