If you purchased a Blue Rhino Propane tank between the dates of June 15, 2005 and October 11, 2011 you might be eligible for a settlement of up to $150 cash from the Blue Rhino Propane class action settlement. The case revolves around claims that Blue Rhino sold propane tanks that were 2 pounds less than they should if been. The tanks were sold as full when in all actuality they were not filled to completion. The lawsuit is entitled Pre-Filled Propane Tank Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation and is in the jurisdiction of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Blue Rhino denies any wrong doing but has agreed to settle to avoid any further court cost.
In order to be eligible for a settlement you MUST file a claim no later than May 23, 2012. If you have proof of purchase you will be reimbursed $7.50 for each tank purchased up to $150. Class Members without proof of purchase will receive a one-time payment of $7.50. The settlement amount could be adjusted based on the amount of claims filed. To exclude yourself from the settlement you must file a written request no later than January 9, 2012. If you wish to object to the settlement you must do so by January 10, 2012.

A settlement hearing will be held on February 24, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. The hearing will take place at the Charles Evans Whittaker Courthouse, 400 East 9th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106. The hearing will decide if the settlement is fair and reasonable.
