The Social Security Administration provides electronic records request online at eme.ssa.gov.  This service is free of charge but it might take a very long time to get your request.  Currently SSA Claims are taking anywhere between 6 to 12 months to process.  This is not to say that a records request will take that long but it gives you an idea of what you’re dealing with.  When making your request please remember that anyone who knowingly and willfully makes any representation to falsely obtain information from Social Security records to be used in a corrupt way could be imprisoned and or heavily fined.   Social Security Administration records can only be used by the holder of the true identity for reasonable purposes.  For example requesting your SSA records to be used in a claim you filed with the Department Of Veterans Affairs this is a perfectly legit reason to make a records request.

If you need help or assistance with the Electronic Records Express please contact SSA at 1-866-691-3061.  The wait time to speak with a customer service rep will average between 15 to 30 minutes.  It is advised you call the number early on a Friday morning in order to avoid a 30 minute wait.  The worse time to call is in the middle of the day on a Monday morning.  Any comments or letters you would like to be known can be mailed to: SSA, 6401 Security Blvd, Baltimore, MD 21235-6401.  If you leave the eme.ssa.gov request portal for 30 minutes or more the system will time out and you will be required to start over.  Please make sure you have at least a half an hour to finish the process.  Also it should be noted that you will be required to pay federal taxes on your Social Security benefits if you file a federal tax return receipt as an individual and your total household income is greater than $25,000.  If you do not hear back from your records request within 3 months please contact the toll-free customer service number.
